When he isn’t extraordinarily busy running the show over at Fangoria and Gorezone, Chris Alexander is making award-winning horror cinema. Alexander’s Queen of Blood, the follow-up to his 2012 endeavor Blood for Irina, is finally set to arrive on home video later this year. It’s a stylish and moody good time, and I’m quite excited that the flick is finally getting released.

Not only did Chris Alexander direct Queen of Blood, he also produced, scored, and edited the feature, which he describes as a “spiritual” successor to Blood for Irina. If you’re unfamiliar with both films, Alexander recently gave everyone a handy synopsis in a recent press release.

[The film] stars Shauna Henry as the vampire Irina, this time reborn into a dream-like rural landscape as a force of blood-sucking nature. As the beautiful, autonomous ghoul drifts across the wild west in her bloody white dress, a sadistic preacher (played by Skinny Puppy frontman Nivek Ogre) stalks her and a pregnant widow (Carrie Gemmell, Female Werewolf) prepares for her arrival. Like its predecessor, Queen of Blood is short on dialogue but long on atmosphere, hypnotic imagery, dense music, and sound design… and plenty of the red stuff.

Intervision Pictures Corp. will release Queen of Blood on both Blu-ray and DVD on September 8. The trailer below is a bit vague, but it should give you an idea of what you’re in for.
