Heather Langenkamp Starring in New Hellraiser Movie; Filming Now
The Hellraiser franchise has had a serious fall from grace over the years, culminating in the 2011 release of the first sequel that didn’t even feature Doug Bradley in the role he made famous. As we reported last night, Bradley won’t be starring in the next installment either, though one of horror’s most beloved scream queens is on board.
In an interview with Scare Tissue, A Nightmare on Elm Street star Heather Langenkamp made the surprising announcement that she has landed a small role in the next Hellraiser film, noting that she will be heading to the set next week. From what we understand, filming on the secretive sequel is already under way.
“I actually have an opportunity to play a small part in Hellraiser (the NEW Hellraiser). I’m so excited about it. I go next week to do the shooting,” the actress told the site. “The script is amazing, and that I got the part is something that I find incredible.”
Who’s directing, you ask?
“It’s Gary Tunnicliffe, who did all the makeup for all these years,” Langenkamp revealed. “They gave him an opportunity to direct the movie. I think it’s going to be pretty outstanding.”
Is this another case of Dimension Films quickly slapping together a sequel to retain the rights to the Hellraiser franchise? Without Doug Bradley on board, we’re afraid that may very well be the case. And if Hellraiser: Revelations was any indication, well, let’s just say it might be time to reboot the whole damn thing.
More on this developing story as we learn it.
