I, Frankenstein Franchise Coming At You From Lakeshore (click for larger image)The Frankenstein monster has long held a special place in the hearts of the staff here at the Dread Central offices, and now that Lakeshore Entertainment has nabbed the film rights to I, Frankensetin, it looks as if we’re gonna be getting a whole lot more mileage out of the big guy! That’s right, kids! A new franchise is on the way!

According to Screen Daily the company acquired the script last Thursday after Underworld writer/actor Grevioux and business partner Robert Sanchez brought in the property.

I, Frankenstein, based upon the comic book series from Darkstorm Comics, brings back many beloved classic monsters including Frankenstein’s Monster, the Hunchback of Notre Dame, the Invisible Man, Dracula, Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde, plus many more in a re-imagined contemporary setting.

Creature effects guru turned director Patrick Tatopoulos (Underworld: Rise of the Lycans) will helm the live action feature.

When Kevin Grevioux and Robert Sanchez presented us with I, Frankenstein, we knew immediately that this was a great and original franchise that could best utilize Patrick’s extraordinary talent and vision,” says Lakeshore president Gary Lucchesi.

Congrats go out to Dread Central alumnus Ryan Rotten, who will also be serving as a producer on the project.

Strap in! Looks like there’s good time ahead filled with many a monster. Ain’t nuthin’ wrong with that! Lakeshore has scheduled a July start.
