Amityville Director Stuart Rosenberg Dead at 79 According to the Associated Press, the man who gave us one of the most ludicrously bad, yet infinitely charming haunted house flicks of our lifetime, Stuart Rosenberg, has died of a heart attack at his Beverly Hills home.

Despite a myriad of other film and TV projects including Cool Hand Luke, The Pope of Greenwich Village, “Alfred Hitchcock Presents,” and “The Twilight Zone,” his 1979 telling of The Amityville Horror stands out as his most financially successful endeavor.

We here at Dread Central offer our sincerest condolences to Stuart’s family, friends, and colleagues.

Rest in peace.
