Exclusive First Image: Escape from Marwin

With escape rooms all the rage of late, particularly for stressed out students or as professional team-building exercises, helmer Jordi Castejón takes this increasingly popular pastime to the ultimate extreme in his feature debut, Escape from Marwin.

With the film now wrapped and heading into post-production, Visual Group Films kindly sent over an exclusive first look image (see it below).

Visual Group Films has now wrapped its debut feature film Escape from Marwin, and according to the tagline, only two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity…

Directed by newcomer Jordi Castejón, this horrific thriller produced by Visual Group Films stars Christian Stamm (Vampyres, Mr. Nice), Camilla Mathias (The Smoke, Nine, The Diary of Bridget Jones), John De Luca (The Bank Job), David Chevers (Mindscape), Itziar Castro ([REC]3: Génesis), Stephanie Figueira, Wendy Lee Taylor, and Aleida Torrent.

Escape from Marwin is the first full-length feature from screenwriter/director Jordi Castejón (Library Love Stories, Rostbif, Orden), in collaboration with Sergio Barnés (producer and cinematographer). After a string of successful shorts which screened on the international festival circuit, the duo make the leap with this independent English language movie.

The film turns the latest fad – escape rooms – on its head by unleashing death row inmates from various U.S. prisons into an escape room, literally giving them the chance to earn their freedom. Five prisoners are sent to Marwin Mansion, where they must endure a 40-hour battle of brains and blood so as to wipe their slates clean and start over.

Principal photography commenced in Sabadell (Barcelona) last March, and the film wrapped just a few days ago in Gavà and Viladecans (Barcelona) after a 15-day shoot. Heading into post-production now under Visual Group Films and PatamStudio, Escape from Marwin is expected to screen at various festivals in the final quarter of 2016.
