Branagh Eying Demon Remake

Kenneth Branagh looking to remake Night of the DemonWhile speaking to Fangoria recently, actor/director Kenneth Branagh dropped an interesting bit of news about a genre project that he’d be into doing after directing Thor for Marvel.

The project in question? A remake of the 1957 classic Night of the Demon aka Curse of the Demon. “I think it’s a sensational movie and I think it’s ripe for redoing,” he tells Fango. Click the above link for the full interview.

For those unsure, Night/Curse of the Demon‘s plot goes like this: “Dr. John Holden ventures to London to attend a paranormal psychology symposium with the intention to expose devil cult leader, Julian Karswell. Holden is a skeptic and does not believe in Karswell’s power. Nonetheless, he accepts an invitation to stay at Karswell’s estate, along with Joanna Harrington, niece of Holden’s confidant who was electrocuted in a bizarre automobile accident. Karswell secretly slips a parchment into Holden’s papers that might possibly be a death curse. Recurring strange events finally strike fear into Holden, who believes that his only hope is to pass the parchment back to Karswell to break the demonic curse.”

I’m with Branagh on this one. A remake in the right hands could be absolutely terrifying. Cross your fingers!
