“The X-Files” was a landmark television show that will enjoy a robust fan base for generations to come. The big screen movies? Well… not so much! They kind of sucked, especially the last one. That’s not stopping writer Frank Spotnitz, though, as he continues to press for another.
In an interview with Screen Daily regarding his new UK show “Hunted”, Spotnitz dropped the following on hopeful fans …
“There is a very active and relentless fan campaign for a last movie. I do feel like it would be a terrible shame if that didn’t happen. It feels wrong not to give it an ending around the alien colonisation of earth. David [Duchovny] and Gillian [Anderson] feel the same. I have a clear idea of how it would go and I’ve been talking to Chris Carter about it for a long time. I’ll keep banging the drum whenever I meet the Fox guys.”
Frank, we all want to believe. If the flick happens, can you make it semi-interesting this time?
In the meantime, fans of the TV show can relive the glory days on Sunday, April 22nd, when Gillian Anderson, David Duchovny, and series creator Chris Carter reunite on the Fox network’s 25th Anniversary Special airing at 8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT.
