The Rock Playing Lobo?

Interesting rumors are coming in. A week or so ago news came that Warner Brothers was looking to bring Lobo to the big screen. Then a few days ago Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson hinted via his Twitter account he’d be playing a DC Comics character on the big screen. And now the third piece of the puzzle is here…
Bleeding Cool reports that “The Rock is going to play Lobo in Brad Peyton’s upcoming film of the DC comics. An untested, unknown source opened up correspondence with us and told us a tale of ‘a Hollywood party’ at which Mr. Rock was a guest and told some fellow partiers that he was going to take the Lobo role.” As you may recall, Peyton just worked with The Rock on the global hit Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. It just seems to all make sense, no?
At this point the jury is still out so we’ll file all this under rumor, but damn it’s a tasty one. Lobo is an alien that works as an interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter. Introduced as a hardened, rarely used hard-boiled villain in the 1980s, the character remained in limbo until his revival as an anti-hero biker in the early 1990s, when he became one of the most popular characters in the DC Comics stable.
The character also appeared in a short film played by Andrew Bryniarski (Leatherface in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake), but something tells us he won’t be reprising that role anytime soon. Check out the short below.
