Pegasus vs. Chimera the Next Syfy Super Monster Smackdown

Over the last 48 hours I’ve had to deal with the driving wind and rain of Hurricane Isaac, long hours at work covering the storm, and prolonged power outages that have kept me in the dark; yet, here I am still finding the time to pen a story about a Syfy movie titled Pegasus vs. Chimera.

What the hell is wrong with me?

On Saturday, September 15th, Syfy will be premiering not one, but TWO original movies as a double feature. Syfy did this earlier this year with a pair of Originals based around classic fairy tales. This time the common theme is famous fantasy.

Kicking off the night at 7/6 Central is Aladdin and the Death Lamp, in which the legendary Arabian hero must wager everything to get an evil Jinn back into his lamp. Since Kandyse McClure of “Battlestar Galactica” is billed as the star I have to assume that either Aladdin is getting a sexy sex change or Aladdin’s love interest is getting top billing. The only other actor listed is Noam Jenkins of Saw II and the ABC cop drama “Rookie Blue”. The movie has no IMDB listing as of the moment so that’s all I can report on this one at this time.

The second half of the double-feature and the one I find infinitely more intriguing is the fantasy creature fight flick Pegasus vs. Chimera, in which the flying, magical steed Pegasus squares off against the hellish, shape-changing Chimera.

The movie’s original title was merely The Blood of Pegasus so I’m going to take a wild guess that the Chimera only plays a small role in what will otherwise be the standard Syfy sword & sorcery flick about a heroic warrior seeking the help of Pegasus to assist him on his mission to A) save an oppressed land from a cruel tyrant, B) stop an evil wizard from conquering the world, C) save a damsel in distress from a cruel tyrant and/or evil wizard, or D) all of the above.

Sebastian Roche of “Fringe” stars alongside Rae Dawn Chong of Commando fame, Nazneen Contractor of “24”, and Andrew Jackson (not the 7th President of the United States).

Pegasus vs. Chimera debuts after Aladdin and the Death Lamp at 9/8 Central.
