More Information on The Devil’s Carnival
Director Darren Bousman’s first three major films (Saw II, Saw III and Saw IV) opened at #1 at the box office three years in a row. After the Saw films, Bousman chose to collaborate on a uniquely entertaining project with writer/performer Terrance Zdunich and went on to direct and produce Repo! The Genetic Opera, a 2008 horror-rock opera musical film distributed by Lionsgate and hailed by The Hollywood Reporter as “the next Rocky Horror Picture Show.” The futuristic Gothic opera, based on the original stage play which Bousman directed in 2002, starred Paul Sorvino, Sarah Brightman, and Paris Hilton.

Like Repo!, there is no spoken dialogue in The Devil’s Carnival. The circus sideshow-type performances in The Devil’s Carnival feature 12 original songs written by Terrance Zdunich and composer Saar Hendelman. The first week The Devil’s Carnival soundtrack was made available online, it was the #4 most downloaded album on iTunes. Of note, The Hunger Games was at #3.

The Devil’s Carnival cast includes Jessica Lowndes (“90210”), Paul Sorvino (Goodfellas), Dayton Callie (“Sons of Anarchy,” “Deadwood”), Sean Patrick Flanery (The Boondock Saints), Marc Senter (The Lost), M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan (of Grammy award-winning band Slipknot), J LaRose (Insidious), Ivan Moody (Five Finger Death Punch), Victoriandustrial rocker Emilie Autumn, Bill Moseley (The Devil’s Rejects), Ogre (of the legendary industrial band Skinny Puppy), Alexa Vega (Spy Kids), and Briana Evigan (Step Up 2).

Episode 266: Opus Writer/Director Mark Anthony Green and Michael Jackson's Thriller (1983)
This week we were unbelievably excited to chat with writer and director Mark Anthony Green! We talk about his feature film debut Opus, working with musical icons The-Dream and Nile Rodgers, Ayo Edebiri's star power and the eccentricities (and graciousness) of John Malkovich. Mark Anthony shares a fantastic story of John on set and so much more before we dig a bit into his horror history and find out why Michael Jackson's Thriller music video scared him as a kid. A shorter episode this week, but easily one of our favorite conversations in a long while. Don't miss it. And go see Opus in theaters!Follow Mary Beth, Terry and the Podcast on Bluesky.
