Ever since Paul Solet’s Grace burst on the horror scene, we’ve been anxious to see what the promising young director would do next. Finally that answer has come thanks to FilmNational Entertainment.
According to Variety FilmNation Entertainment had tapped Solet (pictured below) to direct the horror thriller The Faces from Eric Reese’s spec script, which centers on a pair of newlyweds who, a year after narrowly escaping a brutal kidnapping, find themselves plagued by a horrifying series of events. They soon discover the existence of an elite underworld society which uses terror as a means of entertainment.
FilmNation and Sonny Mallhi (The Strangers) are producing; Chuck Simon is exec producing.
“The Faces is an original and gripping tale which will no doubt captivate audiences,” said FilmNation president of production Aaron Ryder. “Eric is a talented genre writer with a very long and prosperous career ahead.”
Ryder told Variety that the script is being re-written with plans to start casting this fall and go into production in the first quarter. He noted that The Faces is being aimed as a project with broad commercial appeal rather than as a genre title — along the same lines as its recently completed House at the End of the Street starring Jennifer Lawrence.
