B-Sides: Tuesday Knightmare on Elm Street

A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master was probably a career peak for actress Tuesday Knight. Well, the first act of that horror sequel was anyway. Her character may not have been long for this world, but at least she got a chance to sing the opening credits song before getting tossed in a furnace by Freddy.
Tuesday Knight inherited the role of Nightmare on Elm Street 3: The Dream Warriors survivor Kristen from actress Patricia Arquette after Arquette decided she wanted to move on to bigger and better film roles that didn’t involve appearing a movie just long enough to get chucked into a furnace by Robert England in the first act of A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master.
The young ingénue was trying to launch a singing career at the time as well, and her biggest musical break would be having her signature song “Nightmare” play during the 1989 sequel’s opening credits. Knight’s pop songstress career never quite got off the ground, and from listening to “Nightmare”, I think it’s apparent why. Less a statement on her musical talents than the unfortunate reality that the world already had a Debbie Gibson and Tiffany, and by 1989 even their careers were about to fall off a cliff.
Have a listen to Tuesday Knight’s “Nightmare”, and feel free to debate whether or not it should be the A Nightmare on Elm Street 4 song better remembered than The Fat Boys’ “Are You Ready for Freddy?”.
