The Dread Central 2016 Halloweek Costume Contest!

default-featured-image

You know, it’s long been my opinion that Dread Central readers are among the prettiest, funniest, cleverest, and best dressed people on earth. Second only to Dread Central writers, of course. That goes double for our favorite holiday, Halloween, where we all get decked out in our finest ghoulish garb.

It’s kinda sad all the fun happens on one night, and being that all the really good costumes come out on Halloween night, we’re extending the fun into a “Halloweek” with this contest!

Introducing the Dread Central Halloweek Costume Contest, sponsored by Box of Dread!

“Oh god, Ted, that sounds amazing! I don’t even need any prizes, I just love the opportunity to show off my costume and prove I’m sexier than all those other horror wannabes!” Well, I appreciate your enthusiasm, but we’re still gonna give you prizes, like it or not!

We’ll be picking our three favorite costumes and showering their wearers with lavish gifts courtesy of Box of Dread. Here’s the breakdown:

First Place – Best Costume 2016: The lucky grand prize winner will receive a one-of-a-kind “Super Box of Dread.” Containing stuff from the whole year’s run of boxes, this will take your schwag collection from dreadful to dread inspiring!

Second Place – Most Creative Costume: Think your take on a gender-bender Predator/Terminator/Adventure Time crossover is better than the rest? Then prove it, and win a 3-month subscription to the Box of Dread!

Third Place – Scariest Costume: It’s my personal opinion that Halloween should be all about scaring the greatest amount of children as possible. So if you have what it takes to truly be considered “that guy” at the party making everyone uncomfortable, then we’ll reward you with a free November Box of Dread!

So if you want to compete (which of course you do; costumes are super fun), just tag a pic of yourself on Twitter with the hashtag #BoxofDreadCostumeContest. Submit by November 7th, and our panel of horror experts will pick the winners on November 10th, with the winners being posted right here on DC for all the world to see. Here are some more details for those looking to win…

Rules:

  • You can enter as much as you like
  • Must be based in North America
  • Enter by November 7th
  • Horror-themed costumes will be given preference
  • Harley Quinn, Joker, Trump, Clinton, and David Pumpkins costumes need not apply

See you on Twitter, and Happy Halloweek!

Happy Halloween

This week we chat with filmmaker, producer, composer, writer, author...this guy's done it all...John Harrison. From working with George Romero on everything from Creepshow and Dawn of the Dead to Tales from the Darkside to the Dune miniseries to his Netflix series Residue...he's done it all. He even directed Tales from the Darkside: The Movie, which was Andrew LaSane's Scarred for Life pick, which is one of Terry's favorite movies.
