5 Halloween Events Around the US You Should Check Out
We may still be in August but you better believe that planning for fun Halloween activities should be one of your priorities! From haunted houses to terror-filled mazes to historically relevant locations, the United States is filling up with incredible events that cater to the Halloween-loving audience. Since there are a bevy of options available to you all, I thought I’d highlight five that I believe are deserving of your attention.
So, pack up the kids, load the car with your friends, or venture into the night on your own for these five Halloween attractions! Let’s check ’em out, shall we?
1. Halloween Horror Nights (Orlando or Hollywood)
We’ve been covering HHN for several weeks now and for very good reason. With attractions based on “Ash vs Evil Dead”, “American Horror Story”, The Shining, and their “Titans of Terror”, which will feature Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers, and Chucky, plus more, both the East and West coasts will offer a phenomenal opportunity for multiple scares based on some of horror’s biggest names.
Tickets for Halloween Horror Nights Orlando are available right here while tickets for the Hollywood location can be found here.
2. Cedar Point’s Halloweekends (Sandusky, OH)
Sticking with theme parks, Sandusky, Ohio’s Cedar Point gets all sorts of decked out for the Halloween season with Halloweekends, a month-and-a-half long event that includes mazes, activities, rides, and more, all aimed at delighting the horror fan within! Additionally, previous years have seen horror composers Midnight Syndicate do live performances and they’re confirmed to be returning this year, so add that to your list of reasons to head to Cedar Point this Halloween season.
A list of attractions and ticket options can be found here.
3. Erebus 4 Story Haunted Attraction (Pontiac, MI)
If haunted houses are more your style, the first one I want to recommend is Erebus in Pontiac, MI. Between 2005 and 2009, Erebus was in the Guiness Book of World Records for the world’s longest walk-through haunted attraction, so that should already tell you that you’ll get your money’s worth just for the length of it! Packed with multiple scenes and fantastic production levels, Erebus is recognized across the US as one of the best haunted houses for a reason!
Tickets will be available here.
4. ScareHouse (Pittsburgh, PA)
Another haunted house experience, ScareHouse has also become infamous among enthusiasts for its exceptional production value and incredible scares. I had the chance to go through it a couple of years ago (check it out) and it was simply fantastic. It’s clear that this haunted house is put on by people who absolutely adore what they do and want to give fans scares they won’t soon forget!
Tickets can be found here.
5. Salem Horror Fest (Salem, MA)
If theme parks are too loud for you and waiting in line at a haunted house holds no appeal, then might I recommend the Salem Horror Fest? While this is its inaugural year, the idea of a horror festival in Salem, MA is simply too good to pass over. For generations, Salem has been one of the premier Halloween destinations, thanks to its rather tragic and infamous past. But this year will see multiple events take place centered around the love of horror and its importance to culture and society. From art galleries to movie screenings, concerts to live podcasts, this festival will feature a variety of opportunities for those who want some diversity in their Halloween experience.
Tickets and information can be found here.
