The End is Nigh: Dread Central’s 31-Day Horror Challenge for December 2018
The end is nigh—the end of 2018, that is. And while the prospect of a New Year often comes with hope and optimism, we here at Dread Central decided to take a more apocalyptic tone for December’s “Month of Dread”! Regular readers know that we liberated 31-Day “Horror Challenges” from the month of October long ago. Since July, we’ve created monthly, themed-challenges that have included Horror Heatwave, Aquatic Terrors, Back to School, Every Day is Halloween, and (most recently), November of the Living Dead.
Since 2018 is coming to a close with a pervasive chill closing its grip on the Northern Hemisphere, December’s “Month of Dread” will feature characters facing global Armageddon. From alien invasions to pandemics, nuclear bombs to zombies, and even visions of the world post-Apocalypse, we’re highlighting films that force us to face the end of life as we know it, all month long.
The idea is to create unique and inspiring curriculums for the truly devoted, so ask yourself: Are you a horror fan who lives every day like it’s Halloween, too? Do you have the gumption and the stamina to consume a new horror movie every day of every month? If so, feast your eyes on our 31-day horror challenge for December below. Let us know you’re joining in the festivities by using #MonthOfDread on your social accounts when you watch these films! Good luck and pleasant screams!
Did your favorite Apocalypse-themed horror movie make the list? What are some other flicks about the end of the world that deserve a shout-out? Let us know in the comments below or on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!
