Horror is for Lovers: Dread Central’s 28-Day Challenge for February 2019

It’s been over half a year since we started something new here at Dread Central: Monthly, themed horror movie challenges. You know what I’m talking about; those lists of daily genre flicks that are a staple of the Halloween season. We didn’t know why monthly movie challenges were, for the most part, confined to October—especially since horror fans live every day like it’s Halloween!

Our first #MonthOfDread had a Horror Heatwave theme for July. It was followed Aquatic Terrors, Back to School, Every Day is Halloween, November of the Living Dead, The End is Nigh and, most recently, we embraced the chill of the season with Winter HorrorLand!

February is Women in Horror Month and Black History Month, so expect to see content related to both. But the month is perhaps most celebrated by average Jills and Joes for Valentines Day. Everything seems to focus on coupling-up for a month of romance and excitement, but horror fans know (perhaps better than anyone) that the flames of passion often lead to something objectively terrifying!

The pursuit and/or loss of love is a popular plot motivator in every genre, but our theme for February’s 28-Day horror challenge is “Horror is for Lovers”! We’ll be highlighting films that feature dynamic couples, films where love conquers evil, but mostly films where love goes horribly wrong! Many of these films are perfect date-night flicks; others—not so much!

The idea is to create unique and inspiring curriculums for the truly devoted, so ask yourself: Are you a horror fan who lives every day like it’s Halloween, too? Do you have the gumption and the stamina to consume a new horror movie every day of every month? If so, feast your eyes on our 28-day horror challenge for February below.
