Dread Central’s Most Anticipated Horror Films Of Fall 2023
It feels strange to say but it’s almost September. That means we’re officially entering the most wonderful time of the year full of pumpkin spice syrup, Halloween goodies at every store, and a deluge of horror releases across theaters and streaming platforms. Between festival releases like Macon Blair’s The Toxic Avenger and higher profile releases like the new Exorcist and Saw X, there’s a lot to be excited about this fall.
So, of course, we put together a list of what horror films we’re most excited to see in the coming months! We’re just including films with confirmed release dates, so please no tears for the exclusion of The Toxic Avenger!
The Exorcist: Believer
Release date: October 13

Five Nights At Freddy’s

The film follows a troubled security guard as he begins working at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. While spending his first night on the job, he realizes the night shift at Freddy’s won’t be so easy to make it through. Based on the horror video game sensation.

Academy Award nominees Saoirse Ronan and Paul Mescal star in Foe, a haunting exploration of marriage and identity set in an uncertain world. Based on best-selling author Iain Reid’s novel.
Malibu Horror Story
Release Date: October 20

The found footage horror film takes place over ten years in Malibu, California, following the mysterious disappearance of four popular high school boys on graduation night. We follow a team of paranormal investigators as they search a sacred cave in the hills of Malibu for clues to the boys’ disappearance, only to uncover a terrifying truth.
My Animal

Bobbi Salvör Menuez (Euphoria) and Amandla Stenberg (Bodies Bodies Bodies) ignite in this genre-bending supernatural love story. Tormented by a hidden family curse, Heather is forced to live a secluded life on the outskirts of a small town. Totally Killer
