The Ultimate Black-Owned Indie Horror Podcast Directory
It is hard being a Black horror fan. Whether it’s watching some filmmakers refuse to let go of problematic tropes, or listening to the anti-Black things some horror fans say when you voice a concern, it’s not easy to exist in this space most days. However, many of us know there should be room for people who look like us. We believe that so badly that simply watching the movies was not enough for us. We started shows to discuss this genre that we love so much.
One of my favorite things about co-hosting a Black horror indie podcast is the other podcasts we bond with along the way. I pulled together a list of Black-owned horror shows that are not affiliated with a network and could use your support. Most of us rely on word of mouth to grow our fanbase. So, likes, follows, and ratings help make us visible to other potential listeners. It also helps drown out the people who do not want to make space for us in this medium.
Each show has published at least one episode within the last year. All of them are currently indie with no network or financial support. These are labors of love, and I am so grateful for every one of them. These podcasts feature a variety of cool, funny, and smart horror fans that I think you will love as much as I do. Check out this list and see if you find your next favorite podcast.
