8 Disturbing Horror Movies Now Streaming On Tubi

Tubi is unmatched when it comes to out-of-pocket horror movie selections. This is why genre fans usually open the app when they are in the mood to see something sick, upsetting, or legitimately hard to watch. So, of course, I did some homework and watched a ton of disturbing movies so I could make it a streaming guide. If you want your peace disrupted, check out these eight recommendations below!

Be My Cat: A Film for Anne (2015)

An aspiring filmmaker attempts to get Anne Hathaway to appear in his film by making disturbing movies. As unsettling as the premise is, it does not capture how chilling this movie is. This is the first film in Adrian Tofei’s trilogy, but I cannot handle two more installments. I hope a friend stronger than me can relay what I will miss out on. I plan to steer clear and send the rest of you some kind thoughts and a good word.

Capture Kill Release (2016)

A couple decides to spice things up by murdering a stranger. However, one of them is way more serious about killing people than the other. This was your typical offputting found footage movie until we were introduced to a cat. I’m not usually one of those people who avoid movies where the pets die. However, this scene hits differently and is one of the most disturbing things I have seen in a very long time.

Hard Candy (2005)

A teen tricks a pedophile into confessing his crimes and paying the ultimate price. This movie’s subject matter is upsetting, but Elliot Page’s performance is worth the discomfort for those who can handle it. We all know Page is one of the best actors of his generation. However, we forget he’s been giving award-caliber performances since kindergarten. This movie is tense and heavy, but witnessing Page expertly navigate it is a sight to behold.

Martyrs (2008)

A woman seeks out revenge on the people who kidnapped and tortured her as a child. This leads her and a friend, who was also abused as a kid, into something far more sinister than they could have imagined. I put this movie off forever, but it is a different kind of disturbing than I was braced for. Even the predictable first act is bloody and raw. As usual, a French filmmaker fucked me all the way up, and I have been changed for the worse.

The Poughkeepsie Tapes (2007)

New York detectives discover hundreds of VHS tapes documenting a serial killer’s reign of terror that spanned decades. I do not know what I was expecting when I hit play on this, but it was not this upsetting journey I got. This spooky found footage film leaves a stain on the soul. You might want to break out the weighted blanket to watch this one. Tread lightly, friends.

Descent Into Darkness (2013)

A journalist documenting the European dream soon descends into madness. Not to take away from all of the disturbing things that happen in this movie, but the ending is possibly one of the most fucked up things I have seen in quite some time. If you do not know what I am talking about you are lucky. I am not the first summer child at Dread Central to experience this depraved movie. So, you can get a second opinion from someone as scarred as I am.

Terrifier (2016)

A woman’s Halloween plans change for the worst when she gains the unwanted attention of a sadistic murderer. We had to shout out our very own Art the Clown, who has been doing the disturbing work for years. If you are unfamiliar with his creative kills, you can check out Terrifier and Terrifier 2 on Tubi tonight. However, you might want to run because Art will get you where the good Lord split you if he catches you. To quote world-renowned poet Chappell Roan, “Good luck, babe!”

Vile (2011)

Ten people are kidnapped and locked inside a house by a madman who makes them torture themselves for a chance at freedom. While this sounds like your typical Saw knockoff, of which Tubi has plenty, it is actually the kind of disturbing torture porn that littered video stores in our youth. You can almost smell the nostalgia mixed in with all of the screaming.

There you have it, eight disturbing titles you can stream for free on Tubi right now. Have you seen all of these upsetting titles? If so, are you okay? Let me know at @misssharai. Also, let us know if your favorite WTF title on the streamer made this list at @DreadCentral.
