5 Nasty Horror Movies Streaming Now That Will Make You Sick

I think it is fair to say that this January has not been kind to any of us. This week especially brought plenty of headlines that made most of us feel queasy. Between the bouts of nausea and anxiety, I realized this week’s streaming guide needed to have a theme that captures these feelings of repulsion and grossness. Something to sum up these unprecedented times, if you will. Clearly, what we need right now is a watchlist not afraid to get sick, slimy, and plain old disgusting. So, I searched the regular streamers to find the ultimate spew party package. I have collected five movies that really let the body fluids fly and will make you cringe the next time you hear the word “splatterfest”.

If you are in the mood for some bile, sweat, and unidentified substances, this is the streaming guide you have been looking for. I present to you, dear readers, some of the grossest movies streaming this week.

Body Melt (dir. Philip Brophy)

Where You Can Watch: AMC+ and Shudder

The families of Pebbles Court are unknowing test subjects for a drug that causes rapid body decomposition and gnarly death. The title did not prepare me for how much skin would be melted in this movie, nor all of the creative ways bodily fluids would come into play. It is a miracle I managed to keep my food down as I watched people upheave before dying in the most gross ways. Exploding stomachs, exploding penises, living mucus, and placenta are just some of the sickening ways this Australian title tries to make you vomit. These mutations are wicked, and I can never unsee them. So, you should suffer the same fate as me and check out Body Melt. However, you might want to do it on an empty stomach because this nauseating ’90s moment will make your food repeat on you.

Pussycake (dir. Pablo Parés)

Where You Can Watch: Fandango at Home, Prime Video, Sling TV, and Tubi

A struggling girl band sets out on tour and soon discovers there are worse things than being forgotten by fans. I’ve learned to love Pussycake, but it is easily one of the most disgusting movies of this decade. This film is the first thing to come to mind when someone says splatterfest now. There are buckets of puke in various colors and differing textures on display. While it makes me sick to think about the movie, I appreciate its commitment to letting women be gross. When not spewing bodily fluids on each other, they are stuck wearing clothes that will never smell right again. This grungy and chaotic moment is just the right parts of blood, barf, and B-movie to make it the crown jewel on this sickening list. I hope you have a strong stomach because Pussycake is some messy business.

Slime City (dir. Gregory Lamberson)

Where You Can Watch: Plex and Tubi

A student moves into an old New York building where his bizarre neighbors give him a drink that turns him into a murderous slime creature. This list would feel incomplete without at least one 80s B-movie. I chose Slime City because a guy unironically turns into a slimy man and terrorizes New York. The jokes write themselves if you really sit with that premise. Between all the offensive things said and old people playing youths, there are plenty of moments that are gross beyond its meager budget. We are talking about lots of slimy kisses that sent me to hell and enough orifices oozing to cause a strong visceral reaction. If you also have a soft spot for clanky cheap movies that would have killed on Cinemax if we still did premium cable, this is for you. No other title on this streaming guide has this amount of pure sludge and audacity.

The Special (dir. B. Harrison Smith)

Where You Can Watch: Peacock, Prime Video, and Tubi

A man suspects his wife of cheating and sets out to have an affair, which inadvertently leads him down a wild path to addiction. I thought I was watching the wrong movie even after it became clear a guy put his dick in a box. However, once he decides to get back inside the box, the story shifts into a weird traveling DNA-coated crime scene. We watch this man pull a fist full of his own jizz out of this box before the movie really decides to get gross. By the time the box’s contents were revealed, I wanted to know less, and I felt like I needed an outbreak suit. The Special stands out on this list for utilizing splooge when other movies never dared to dream. It also has other juicy treats up its gross sleeve, but nothing quite as moist.

Tetsuo: The Iron Man (dir. Shinya Tsukamoto)

Where You Can Watch: VOD

A Metal Fetishist gets revenge on the man who accidentally killed him by transforming him into a gross hybrid of flesh and metal. The first five minutes gave us a guy with an open wound full of maggots, and I should have known this was going to be rough right then and there. A friend pointed out that this movie is in the DNA of Titane, and I can see that. If you thought Titane was not sweaty enough, this is definitely for you. The more fluids got involved, the more confused I got about how to best categorize them. Was the stuff coming out of our doomed lead bile, machine oil, or both? Whatever it is, it is disgusting and is definitely a body fluid now. Tetsuo: The Iron Man has two sequels, but I do not think I am metal enough for either. I will be paying a therapist good money to help me heal after watching the first one.

Have you already watched all of these gross gems? Then let me know if you found them as sickening as I did at @misssharai.
