Red Dead Redemption + Zombie Sasquatch = Major Wins at 2010 Spike VGAs
It’s quite clear from last night’s 2010 Spike Video Game Awards that black and white horror can still terrify and the Old West NEVER gets old.
While wunderkind PlayDead’s frighteningly “stark and dark” title, Limbo, took home the MUCH deserved award for Best Independent Game, the REAL upset came courtesy of a man named John Marston and a zombie Sasquatch.
Nominated for nine awards, Red Dead Redemption (Rockstar Games/Rockstar San Diego) upset the apple cart and was the belle of the ball, taking home not only three Vector Monkeys for Game of the Year, Best Song, and Best Original Score, but they also took home the award for Best DLC for the zombiefied Undead Nightmare, bringing their total to four.
I love this game but I know what you’re thinking: “Just HOW MUCH do people love this game?” Glad you asked!
Meet Ben Van Dyken. Van Dyken is so enamored with Red Dead, he not only had a photoshoot where he cosplayed as Marston, but ACTUALLY matched the scenery. The term “badass” is thrown around a LOT these days, but when it comes to this guy, he really IS a badass. Check out some images of him below, and see the rest of his pics here.
Now that Red Dead‘s taken home four Vector Monkeys and winning awards across the board from critics, colleagues, and fans, get ready to see guys dressed like this WAY more often at conventions.
I’m actually hoping for a Red Dead 3.
Yee haw, y’all.
