Capcom will release Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara on June 18th for PC & PSN and on June 19th for Xbox Live Arcade. Players will be able to join up to three friends and battle against mythical beasts of the Dungeons and Dragons’ world.
We recently got some hands-on time with the new game; read on to see our thoughts.
Hands-On Impressions
Capcom combined two classic titles; the 1993 Tower of Doom and the 1996 Shadow of Mystara in Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara. The new four player arcade brawler will make its way to modern consoles starting on June 18th and will eventually release on the Wii U eShop at a later date. The new title integrates a new challenge system that features drop-in and drop-out multiplayer for online play utilizing GGPO.
Players can also now change the mechanics through the ‘house rules’ feature were you can change up how you are damaged as one option–meaning you can change it were you lose currency over health when damage occurs. The new game also takes full advantage of online leaderboards which has been made available for all versions of Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara. Players need not expect a ton of new gameplay mechanics or features with Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara, but the game with its new HD graphics has transferred over to current-gen consoles very well. All-in-all, Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara has kept these beloved classics in tact, and have shown that even aged titles can still be enjoyable amongst the many technological advances today.
From the Press Release
Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara brings reworkings of two of Capcom’s classic arcade hits – Dungeons & Dragons: Tower of Doom and Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara – together in one definitive digital package for current generation platforms. Just as in the arcades, up to four players will select their character class before doing battle against the mythical beasts from the Dungeons and Dragons’ universe with a mix of melee, range and magic attacks.
