News and Images from Rue Morgue’s First Film!
You may recall the rather significant announcement a few months back that founder and editor-in-chief of Rue Morgue Magazine, Rodrigo Gudino, would be leaving his post at the magazine to write and direct films, something he had been striving for his whole life.
Then, for a long time, we heard nothing…until now. Gudino’s first short film, “The Eyes of Edward James”, is not only completed, but it has been accepted as part of the final list of 38 short films (down from the 560 entered) to make its premiere at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival, which runs from September 7th-16th.
“The Eyes of Edward James” is the Hitcockian story of a patient whose doctor regresses him into the traumatic memory of the evening his wife was brutally murdered. As more and more of the truth comes out, however, Edward’s doctor begins to question if James is being entirely honest with him, much the same way Edward’s wife was not as honest as she let on.
Richard Underhill (Blue Murder), Tal Zimmerman, Shala Kareen-Palmer, and Robert C. Fidler star in “The Eyes of Edward James”, which marks Gudino’s debut behind the camera. He’s set to shoot another short, “The Demonology of Desire”, later this year and will be starting his first feature in 2007.
