‘The Horror Of Dolores Roach’ Star Justina Machado Talks Chaotic Bisexuality In New Prime Video Series

The Horror Of Dolores Roach

The Horror Of Dolores Roach has been around for almost a decade. Creator Aaron Mark initially conceived of Dolores in the one-woman stageplay, Empanada Loca. Then, he adapted the play into a two-season podcast series. Now, Mark’s creation is coming to Prime Video as an eight-episode series chronicling Dolores’s, played by Justina Machado, life after she’s released from prison. Oh, and this is also an adaptation of the Sweeney Todd urban legend but with weed, empanadas, and a scathing look at the effects of gentrification on existing communities.

Read the full synopsis below:

Dolores Roach (Justina Machado) is released from prison after 16 years and returns to a gentrified Washington Heights. She reunites with an old stoner friend, Luis (Alejandro Hernandez), who lets her live and work as a masseuse in the basement under his empanada shop. When the promise of her newfound stability is quickly threatened, “Magic Hands” Dolores is driven to shocking extremes to survive.

Dread Central spoke with Machado about why we need more characters like Dolores and her confirmed bisexuality!
