‘Perpetrator’ Director Jennifer Reeder On Feral Girls and Pools of Blood [Watch]
Director Jennifer Reeder is fascinated with the female body, especially in how others react to it. Her feature film debut Knives And Skin delves into societal obsession with missing girls, and now her newest film Perpetrator delves into unruly bodies, how much society hates young girls, and the beauty of blood. It is, in a way, a spiritual successor to Knives And Skin but with an even more horrific twist.
In Perpetrator:
Jonny Baptiste (Kiah McKirnan) is a reckless teen sent to live with her estranged Aunt Hildie (Alicia Silverstone). On her 18th birthday, she experiences a radical metamorphosis: a family spell that redefines her called Forevering. When several teen girls go missing at her new school, a mythically feral Jonny goes after the Perpetrator.
Dread Central spoke with Reeder about unruly bodies, societal pressures on young girls, and more.
