‘The First Omen’ Director Arkasha Stevenson On Tackling Religious Horror And Assault

Writer and director Arkasha Stevenson cut her teeth in the world of television, directing episodes of Channel Zero, Legion, and Brand New Cherry Flavor. Now, she’s jumping head first into the horror film world with The First Omen, a prequel to the iconic 1976 religious horror film. Her adaptation isn’t just about fan service—it’s about tackling the horrors of faith and what these institutions are capable of in the name of what they deem “the greater good”.

In honor of The First Omen coming to theaters, we spoke with Stevenson about tackling such a revered franchise, how to film a veil ceremony, and Possession.
