‘Infested’ Director Sébastien Vaniček On Working With Real Spiders And ‘The Evil Dead’ [Watch]
It’s spider horror spring and our screens are practically crawling with eight-legged creatures. And that’s especially true with the release of Sébastien Vaniček‘s chilling arachnid film Infested. It came to Shudder last week and, as expected, it’s already terrifying audiences. But this isn’t just about the spiders. Vaniček has created a horror film that looks at class and race in contemporary France all while covered in hundreds of hungry, venomous spiders.
In Infested:
Kaleb is about to turn 30 and has never been lonelier. He’s fighting with his sister over an inheritance and has cut ties with his best friend. Fascinated by exotic animals, he finds a venomous spider in a shop and brings it back to his apartment. It only takes a moment for the spider to escape and reproduce, turning the whole building into a dreadful web trap. The only option for Kaleb and his friends is to find a way out and survive.
We spoke with Vaniček about his experience working with actual spiders, making a film in the French suburbs, and taking on The Evil Dead.
