Alicia Witt has been acting for almost her entire life, making her debut in David Lynch’s 1984 adaptation of Dune. Since then, she’s appeared in countless TV shows and films, such as Twin Peaks, Justified, and Urban Legend. But despite her decades of experience, nothing could prepare her for her role in Osgood Perkins’ Longlegs.

Witt plays Ruth Harker, mother of FBI Special Agent Lee Harker (Maika Monroe), a religious woman who wants to make sure her daughter is still saying her prayers. Harker’s own mama trauma simmers in the background of Longlegs, another layer to the complex character that is Lee Harker.

We spoke with Witt about why this movie is so important to her and why she’ll never ever watch the whole thing.
