Both Andra Day and Glenn Close are decorated actors for their ability to craft believable and heart-breaking performances. While both have traversed different genres, neither of them has ever really dabbled in the horror genre (unless, of course, you count Close’s turn in Fatal Attraction). But now, thanks to director Lee Daniels, the two are starring together in the upcoming Netflix genre film The Deliverance, which is inspired by one family’s harrowing true story.

In The Deliverance:

Ebony Jackson, a struggling single mother fighting her personal demons, moves her family into a new home for a fresh start. But when strange occurrences inside the home raise the suspicions of Child Protective Services and threaten to tear the family apart, Ebony soon finds herself locked in a battle for her life and the souls of her children.

We spoke with Day and Close about family bonding, their relationship with the horror genre, and more.

The Deliverance comes to Netflix on August 30, 2024.
