Horror Icon and ‘Crust’ Director Sean Whalen On His New Sock Monster Creature Feature
In August, Dread Central exclusively announced that Sean Whalen’s (of The People Under The Stairs frame) feature film debut as a director was set to come to theaters this September from Anchor Bay Entertainment. Now, on the eve of Crust‘s theatrical release, we’re excited to release our full interview with Sean Whalen about his very special and unique take on the horror genre.
In the film,
Vegas Winters (Sean Whalen) is a depressed washed-up child actor who fled Tinseltown and owns and lives in a rundown laundromat. But, the despondent man’s tears of anguish turn a pile of socks into a loving monster named Crust, who protects Vegas and begins to eliminate his enemies.
We spoke with Whalen about directing his first feature film, acting as a craft, and making a sock monster lovable.
