‘Cursed In Baja’ Director Jeff Daniel Phillips On His Trippy New Feature [Watch]
Jeff Daniel Phillips has made a career for himself as a character actor. Whether he’s hamming it up as the lovesick Herman Munster in Rob Zombie’s The Munsters or playing the iconic caveman in the GEICO commercials, Phillips is a chameleon. But his talents don’t stop at acting. He’s also a writer, director, and producer, and his most recent film Cursed In Baja shows his DIY roots. Untethered by studio expectations, Phillips shot the film with a barebones crew and utilized footage from across his career to build the story.
In the film:
Pirelli, an ex-lawman, travels to Mexico searching for the heir to a Los Angeles fortune, while confronting his own complicated past. But what he finds in Baja challenges him to the core.
We spoke with Phillips over Zoom about how he pieced everything together, shooting with the smallest team possible, and the power of indie guerilla filmmaking.
