‘Companion’ Director Drew Hancock On Releasing His First Feature Into The World
Writer and director Drew Hancock‘s feature film debut Companion is a fascinating look at the rapidly growing fears surrounding artificial intelligence. But interestingly, instead of giving us another killer robot/android story, Hancock makes the robot our hero. Instead, the human characters are the monsters (in more ways than one). With Sophie Thatcher leading as android Iris, both her performance and Hancock’s craftsmanship weave an entertaining tale about love, relationships, and technology.
We spoke with Hancock about how COVID inspired him to write this film, casting, and telling a unique story about artificial intelligence.
