‘The Lycan’ Creator Thomas Jane Talks Werewolves And Found Footage

Since he was a kid, actor Thomas Jane has loved comics. But it wasn’t about superheroes for him. He liked the creepier, weirder stuff. Now, Jane is using that love of the scarier side of comics to produce an original story years in the making. Acting as producer, Jane assembled writer Mike Carey, artist Diego Yapur, colorist D.C. Alonso, and letterists AndWorld Design to bring the historical horror story, The Lycan, to life.

In The Lycan:

Year of Our Lord 1777: A hardened band of international big game hunters returning from Africa are shipwrecked off a small British island.

In exchange for new supplies and the repairing of their good ship The Calydonian, Lord Ludgate engages the men for a task they are particularly well suited for: find the Berserking Beasts that have been eating his subjects, including a group of young Benedictine Nuns, and destroy them.

We sat down with Jane to talk about his love of werewolves and the long process of bringing this story to life. Plus, we have a little debate about found footage!
