7 of the Best Military Horror Movies
“I hate war only as a solider who has lived it can, only as one who has seen its brutality, its futility, its stupidity.” ~ Dwight D Eisenhower
War is hell and a horror in and of itself. It is not pleasant; it is shocking. There is nothing good about it, and it doesn’t really resolve anything. It changes one’s state of mind when having to live through it, changing that person into someone different, and they are never the same again.
Taking the horror of war and injecting it with other supernatural attire has made what I’ve found to be some of the most brilliant horror movies out there. Here are a few of the best, in no particular order.
Dog Soldiers (2002)
This is one of my all time favorite movies. Starring some great actors like Kevin McKid and Liam Cunningham, it is truly not only one of the best written military horror movies but also one of the best werewolf horror movies as well.
Deathwatch (2002)
Set in WWI, the film follows a group of British soldiers stuck in a trench along the front of the enemy line along with a German soldier whom they’ve captured. They find that there is evil lurking amongst them… or is it just in their own minds?
The Objective (2008)

This one is set in more modern times in Afghanistan. Superstitions and paranoia run high in the desert for these soldiers, and nothing is what it seems. I found this movie to be intriguing, and it kept me interested to the end.
