10 Must-See Deleted Horror Movie Scenes
Anyone who loves horror loves the mysterious side of the genre. And we’re not necessarily talking mysterious details of mysterious films; we’re also talking about the rare and unknown, the taboo material that maybe we were never meant to see to begin with.
If you’re a film fan, you know that what you see on screen isn’t necessarily the entire picture. There are more often than not a number of scenes and sequences chopped from pictures before they make their way to the masses. These deleted scenes now often appear on special edition DVD and Blu-rays discs. But some don’t. Some remain the thing of Hollywood mythology… and some land on YouTube for us fanatics to watch repeatedly, a grin stretching so far across our faces one might swear our jaws are double-jointed.
While a handful of these particular clips can be found on home releases, a few are a bit more challenging to actually own in physical format. That doesn’t matter. They’ve become a part of the endless ocean of entertainment known as the internet, and we’re looking to bring a few rarities to light for your viewing pleasure!
Dr. Satan Rips a Nurse’s Throat Out
Rosario Dawson is absolutely gorgeous. So much so in fact that she should be impervious to grotesque death scenes in any and all films she participates in. But good old Rob Zombie, he likes to sink our dream ships… and rip out throats on screen. Poor Rosario, who plays the sexy nurse Marsha in The Devil’s Rejects, falls victim to Zombie’s sadistic ways as she finds herself in too close proximity to the much-feared Doctor Satan, who still has a thirst for blood… even laid up in a hospital bed. Sure, this scene rocks, but… well, damn you, Rob – damn you!
Scream 4 Alternate Opening
The alternate opening of Scream 4 is heavily laced with cruelty from our onscreen players, but that’s kind of the nature of the series, right? The formula we see here is true to everything we know about Scream, but it’s a blast to see something a little different all the same. And hey, there’s a lesson included: Cruel pranks can lead to bloody, violent deaths. We should all know that by now, right?
Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter Alternate Ending
Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter will always be recognized as one of the finest films in the Friday franchise. It’s a blast on all levels, and it ends on a jarring note. But what some don’t know is that there were other plans for a finale in the film. Those plans include a “morning after” look at the home in which Tommy Jarvis and Jason Voorhees wage final war. This shot pays tribute to the “dream sequences” featured in past franchise films, and while it may not be as stunning as a young Jason Voorhees leaping from Crystal Lake for one final scare, it’s actually pretty disturbing.
