5 Horror Movies To Celebrate Creepy King Bill Skarsgård’s Birthday

It’s a special day for weird kids like me because it’s Bill Skarsgård’s birthday. Our creepy king was born in Vällingby, Stockholm, Sweden on August 9, 1990. Because he was born into an acting family of hotties, he decided to carve out a very specific career path for himself to stand out. It’s one we love to see because it’s an eclectic resume of villainy and nightmare fuel. Whether he’s tossing himself onto the long list of enemies in John Wick: Chapter 4 or appearing in hard-to-find but super weird shorts, he’s the moment. In case you somehow missed his ascent into genre royalty, he’s also got lead roles in Boy Kills WorldThe Crow, and Nosferatu on deck. So, it doesn’t look like he’s planning to slow down his quest to stress us the hell out.

This is an agenda I fully support, and I don’t think I’m the only one watching this steadily disturbing climb to becoming a horror icon. So, I was very happy to put my thirsty eye to use and see how many of Wild Bill’s horror movies are currently streaming. After all, what better day to appreciate his disturbing talents than his birthday?

Barbarian (2022)

Where You Can Watch: Hulu and Max

A woman discovers the home she has rented is very overbooked. None of us fell for the romance the trailer tried to sell us because Bill Skarsgård had already put us through so much throughout his horror career. We all went into this movie thinking, “Billy Skars is guilty of all things. Lock him up immediately.” So, I was shooketh when his character wasn’t the villain. However, I am still asking to see all deleted scenes before I admit I may have been wrong.

Castle Rock (2018 – 2019)

Where You Can Watch: Hulu

The series combines various Stephen King characters, components, and bad vibes to tell the ultimate Maine saga. The intersection of Bill Skarsgård and Stephen King is possibly one of the most unsettling corners in the genre right now. While Bill doesn’t get as much screen time as we want him to, he manages to stare into each of our souls long enough to terrify every single one of us.

The Devil All The Time (2020)

Where You Can Watch: Netflix

A man must protect his family from shady characters in a corrupt town. I don’t know who thought inviting Bill Skarsgård to a southern gothic psychological thriller was the move. The fact that they also armed his character with prayer and a knife is possibly the most out-of-pocket thing he’s been given since Pennywise invited Georgie into the sewer in It: Chapter 1. Someone send help immediately.

Hemlock Grove (2013 -2015)

Where You Can Watch: Tubi

A town filled with secrets finds itself at the center of a sinister mystery. Billy Skars was given one of the main roles in this Netflix original series. His Roman Godfrey is serving a mysterious hottie that’s nothing but trouble. Which might be why so many people followed along all three seasons, to be honest.

Villains (2019)

Where You Can Watch: FreeveeHuluPlexSling TVTubi, and Youtube

Two crooks break into a house but soon find out the homeowners might be more dangerous than they are. I love that Maika Monroe and Bill Skarsgård were paired up for this dark horror comedy. They would definitely be strong contenders for horror prom queen and king if this were a scary high school. This movie also proves that when Mr. Skarsgård isn’t allowed to give us nightmares, he will still find a way to run toward the weird projects. The true mark of a king, to be honest.

Bonus Pick

It (2017)

Where You Can Watch: VOD

The Losers Club runs into the biggest and creepiest bad in Derry, Maine one summer. This first chapter is a damn good movie. This is fortunate because Tim Curry left some pretty big shoes to fill as the murderous clown in this disturbing tale. Bill Skarsgård gave us a version of Pennywise that was somehow more sinister and so wildly different from the original that we had to make room at the iconic horror villain table. While a lot can be said about It: Chapter 2, I refuse to hear any slander aimed at Billy or Bill Hader because they both went above and beyond to give us a terrifying time. I think both halves serve as a vehicle for Bill Skarsgård to showcase his most unhinged performance but I can actually recommend renting Chapter 1 with a clear conscious.

We’re hoping our favorite creepy kid is having an amazing birthday! Are you also a fan of the chaotic horror king Bill Skarsgård? Then tell me which of his performances gave you the best nightmares at @misssharai.
