Top 9 Heavyweight Horror Match-Ups
Dracula vs. Frankenstein (1971)
Okay, so maybe this one needed a little more polish, but when you get two main event monsters like Dracula and Frankenstein squaring off, people are going to take notice, no matter if it’s presented in B-movie format or not. Directed by Al Adamson, the movie tells the story of a mad scientist descendant of the original Dr. Frankenstein who is killing women in hopes of being able to create his own creature. Lon Chaney, Jr., appears as the mad scientist’s assistant. While all this is going on, Dracula appears in search of a serum that will make him immortal. And he agrees to revive the Frankenstein monster to gain this serum. Sounds like a hoot, right?! Add into a character named Grazbo the Evil Dwarf, and you’ve got yourself a winner!
Freddy vs. Jason (2003)
One of the greatest heavyweight horror match-ups of all time, Freddy vs. Jason pits two of the greatest horror movie slasher icons ever in a battle to the death. We get to see the strengths and weaknesses of both of these legendary figures as they square off in a head-to-head battle that encompasses the final scene of the movie. This is the Ali vs. Frazier of horror. This is the epic battle between two of the very best, and as would be expected, we get an ending that leaves much to the imagination. But what else would you expect? Both of these horror heroes deserve the title of the greatest of all time; they squared off in Freddy vs. Jason, but there was still plenty left to argue after the final credits rolled. The entire final fight can be seen below. “Welcome to my nightmare.”
Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus (2009)
All right, when a trailer gets as much buzz as this one did, it’s gotta have some representation. The preview for Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus featuring Deborah Gibson became an internet sensation well before the movie was released. Of course, after the movie was released, we all realized that the best part of Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus was probably in the trailer, but that doesn’t detract from it being one of the most eagerly anticipated movies to come out of The Asylum, ever! If you love campiness, this movie is for you!
Damien Leone directs Frankenstein vs. The Mummy, which stars Robert MacNaughton, Ashton Leigh, Max Rhyser, Brandon deSpain, and Constantin Tripes.
Look for it on February 10, 2015.
