Skull Island: Reign of Kong Brings Adventure to Universal Orlando Next Year
King Kong fans, rejoice! The folks at Universal Orlando Resort are bringing the legendary giant gorilla’s home to life with Skull Island: Reign of Kong, an attraction that thrusts fans directly into the heart of adventure. Judging from the conceptual artwork provided by the resort, Universal is going all out to bring this mysterious region to life. Unfortunately, the gates don’t open for another year.
Instead of simply rehashing the story of King Kong, the attraction is piecing together an “all-new adventure” that will, theoretically, “pull guests into a powerfully told story where they become part of the next generation of the Kong legend.” To help bring Skull Island and its inhabitants to life, the resort is working closely with King Kong director Peter Jackson.
Mike West, the executive producer for Universal Creative, is understandably thrilled and beyond excited about Skull Island: Reign of Kong, saying, “King Kong is a Hollywood movie legend and a huge part of both our history and our future. He gives us the opportunity to tap into everything that makes our film history so special and everything that makes our theme park attractions so spectacular. We can’t wait to bring him to life in such an epic way.”
Skull Island: Reign of Kong is presently set to open in the summer of 2016. Remember to plan your family vacation accordingly. Check out the conceptual artwork below.
