ABC Family’s Shadowhunters Finds Its Clary Fray
We’ve been talking about ABC Family’s upcoming adaptation of Cassandra Clare’s YA fantasy series The Mortal Instruments, which will be entitled “Shadowhunters,” for a few weeks now; and while several bits of casting news have come in, we’ve all been waiting to hear who the series lead will be. Well, as of right now that wait is over!
The announcement came via the show’s Twitter feed:

Katherine (Kat) McNamara is no stranger to popular YA franchises as she also appears in the upcoming Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials. She previously starred in “Happyland.”
McG will direct the premiere episode.
“Shadowhunters” follows 18-year-old Clary Fray (Kat McNamara), who finds out on her birthday that she is not who she thinks she is but rather comes from a long line of Shadowhunters – human-angel hybrids who hunt down demons. When her mother, Jocelyn, is kidnapped, Clary is thrown into the world of demon hunting with mysterious Shadowhunter Jace (Dominic Sherwood) and her best friend, Simon (Alberto Rosende). Now living among faeries, warlocks, vampires, and werewolves, Clary begins a journey of self-discovery as she learns more about her past and what her future may hold.
