The Ghouls Puts a Curse on Chinese Cinemas This December

Grave robbing is risky business. Just ask the main characters of director Wu Ershan’s upcoming adventure/horror flick The Ghouls. Based on the popular online novel Ghost Blows Out the Light by Chinese author Zhang Muye, the film tells the story of two grave robbers who find themselves battling a horrible curse during the 1980s. In order to survive the experience with their hides intact, our heroes team up with an American archaeologist to seek answers hidden throughout China.

To help bring the flick to life, Wu Ershan (Painted Skin: The Resurrection) tapped Chinese actors Chen Kun, Huang Bo, Xia Yu, Shu Qi, and Angelababy. Production wrapped in New York earlier this year, which means The Ghouls should arrive in Chinese theaters this December. As of this writing, a Stateside release hasn’t been hammered out. My guess is probably sometime next year.

Although we don’t have any promotional images or an official trailer to share just yet, take a glance at the posters below. The Ghouls arrives in China on December 18.
