It’s Friday once again, which means that a handful of new films have been put up for instant streaming on various VOD outlets. It’s our duty here at Dread Central to keep you abreast of the horror offerings that hit such services, and that’s precisely what we’re here to do today. So read on!

First up, Karen Lam’s supernatural thriller Evangeline (review) has been conjured up by Uncork’d Entertainment today, a film that our own Staci Layne Wilson called a “moody, stylish and somewhat sentimental Asian-influenced chiller.”

In the film, Evangeline Pullman (Kat de Lieva) has just escaped her sheltered upbringing to reinvent herself in college. As she begins to break out of her shell, she attracts the attention of a violent fraternity leader (Richard Harmon) and his two cohorts. Beaten and dumped in the woods to die, Evangeline finds herself trapped in a supernatural nightmare, and she must choose between vengeance and redemption.

Also out today, via Lionsgate, is the hotly anticipated Arnold Schwarzenegger zombie flick Maggie (review), directed by Henry Hobson. This rare dramatic turn for Arnold is available both on VOD outlets and in limited theaters.

Schwarzenegger plays the father of a 16-year-old girl (Abigail Breslin) who is infected with the zombie virus, staying by her side as she transforms from human being to flesh-eating monster.
