Sneak Peek of Ackerman Estate Auction

Profiles in History and American Cinematheque are offering a public sneak peek of some treasures of the late and great Forrest J. Ackerman. Several significant items will be out on display between 3:00 and 4:00 PM on Sunday, March 8 of 2009, as Profiles in History joins the American Cinematheque at the Egyptian Theater in Los Angeles in a tribute to our greatly missed Forry.
Included in the preview will be the Dracula ring worn by Bela Lugosi as Count Dracula; Lugosi’s robe from The Raven; a cape made for Lugosi in 1932 and used many times for his stage portrayal of Dracula as well as in Lugosi’s performance in Plan 9 from Outer Space; a first edition of the book, Dracula signed by Bram Stoker and inscribed by Bela Lugosi to Forry Ackerman (also signed by a host of other Dracula-related personalities); the “Maria” robot from Metropolis and Fritz Lang’s monocle, which he wore when he directed Metropolis and given to Forry by Lang.
These items are just a few of the highlights of 100’s of items that are planned to be sold during the Forrest J Ackerman Estate Auction, organized by Profiles in History and planned to take place between April 30th and May 1, 2009.
