Hudson Horror Show 11 Has Some Bite

One of the most unique horror events in the Northeast is the Hudson Horror Show. With its eleventh bi-annual show coming on June 13th, HHS features classic horror films shown in their original 35mm format. For Hudson Horror Show 11, organizers have seriously outdone themselves.

There is a reason why the Hudson Horror Show, held at the Empire South Hills Cinema in Poughkeepsie, NY, is Doctor Gash’s favorite Northeastern film festival. Organizer Chris Alo and his crew go all out to be sure the audience has a killer time by bringing in some legendary films. The theater is loaded with vendors, and there are tons of giveaways for the fans. Simply put, the Hudson Horror Show is a rocking good time.

For HHS 11, the headline film is no less than one of the most iconic in history, Jaws. And fans will be thrilled to know that a giant shark head from the film will be on display during the day. If that doesn’t scream for a selfie, we don’t know what does. A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge is the second main feature, and the 1982 cult classic Madman rounds out the top three films.

And speaking of Madman, HHS has managed to secure some pretty impressive celebrity guests. Madman Marz himself from this 80’s slasher, Paul Ehlers, will be in attendance. Also another star of the movie, Jimmy Steele, will be there. This is Steele’s first ever appearance in support of Madman! Madman producer Gary Sales will be in attendance as well. The trio will introduce the movie and do a live Q&A.

Fans will find monster puppeteer Bill Diamond on the premises, and add in a screening of Ms. 45, a “mystery” film, some amazing old school movie trailers in between films, as well as a massive Dread Central swag giveaway, and you’ve got a full day of fun. Check out Hudson Horror Show, say hi to Doctor Gash (he loves that!), and prepare yourselves for a full day of classic horror!

From the Press Release
Fresh off a sold-out show at the Alamo Drafthouse, Hudson Horror Show returns to the hallowed grounds of the Empire South Hills 8 in Poughkeepsie, NY! In our sixth year and presented by Vinegar Syndrome and the B Movie Film Vault, Hudson Horror 11 is a 12-hour retro film festival with all movies being presented from vintage 35mm prints.

HHS 11 features five full-length movies, dozens of retro trailers and ads, plus vendors selling horror-related toys, t-shirts, and more! B Movie Film Vault will open the show with a mystery movie. We don’t know what it is, but we know it will be good. OK, maybe it will be bad, but we guarantee it will be fun, and it will be off 35mm.

Vinegar Syndrome presents a very special screening of Madman! While they have digitally restored this cult slasher for their beautiful new DVD/Blu-ray special edition (which they will have for sale at the show), they will be presenting an original release 35mm print of this long lost shocker! To make it even more special, Madman producer Gary Sales and Madman Marz himself, actor Paul Ehlers, and actor Jimmy Steele will be in attendance to introduce the movie and do a live Q &A!

We love a good revenge story, and one of the truly best is Ms. 45! Abel Ferrara’s rape/revenge flick is just as powerful as ever, and we are pleased to get this gritty grindhouse meets arthouse classic back up on the big screen at Hudson Horror Show 11.

It’s time to get weird with the awesome awkwardness of A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge! The first of the many Elm Street sequels is celebrating its 30th anniversary, and that makes it high time to bask in its insanity.

We’ll close the show with a whopper of a tale and arguably one of the greatest movies of all time, a special 40th anniversary screening of Jaws! No clean, digital restoration here as in true Hudson Horror style we are presenting a beautifully weathered vintage 35mm film print!
