In addition to David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, back in their signature roles as FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, Joel McHale is joining original cast members Mitch Pileggi, reprising his role as Walter Skinner, and William B. Davis as the “Cigarette Smoking Man.”
The new “X-Files” chapter, a six-episode “event” shepherded by series creator Chris Carter, will launch on Sunday, January 24, 2016. 20th Century Fox TV and Ten Thirteen Productions are producing.
“The X-Files” originally premiered in September 1993. Over the course of its nine-season run, the influential series went from breakout sci-fi favorite to massive global hit and became one of the most successful television dramas of all time. The show earned 16 Emmy Awards, five Golden Globes, and a Peabody Award.
