Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson on a Rampage in Video Game Adaptation
There are few arcade games I cherish more than Rampage. Simply put, the game let me live out my childhood love of Kaiju movies by busting up buildings, eating people, and of course kicking the asses of other monsters. THR is reporting that a big screen adaptation is officially on its way featuring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson!
The project reunites Johnson, New Line, and producer Beau Flynn, who teamed for the hit disaster film San Andreas.
Given the success of San Andreas and its more than $400 million worldwide box-office haul, New Line is eager to get Rampage off the ground and is eying a 2016 summer production start.
Based on the 1986 Midway arcade game, the script is being written by Ryan Engle (Non-Stop). There’s no director attached at this point.
Oh, happy day! This just seems so right!
In the game players would grab their way through Chicago, punch up New York, and jump on San Francisco. Three indescribably nasty characters who bear a remarkable likeness to King Kong, Godzilla, and The Wolf Man needed you to send them on a RAMPAGE in an enduring 150 days of destruction through 50 different cities!
