Children Accidentally Shown Insidious: Chapter 3 at Ohio Theater

After settling in to catch a showing of the latest Disney/Pixar flick Inside Out, parents were more than a little horrified when the theater in Middletown, Ohio, accidentally started showing the kids writer/director Leigh Whannell’s Insidious Chapter 3. As you can probably imagine, quite a few people were more than a little upset about the horror-oriented mix-up.

According to the Journal News, Danbarry Cinema started receiving complaints after “images of children being tied up and murdered appeared on the screen,” which understandably sent the kids and their parents running for the exits. Although the theater’s manager attempted to make things right by giving the horrified customers free passes and an upgrade to see Inside Out in 3D, parent Jazmyn Moore said that her children are “terrified and keep asking questions.”

This begs the question: How did the theater make such a horrifying mistake? Cosmopolitan explains that the projectionist made the unfortunate error because both films start with “INSID.” This is when attention to detail makes all the difference in the world.

The anonymous theater manager claims that angry complaints from parents of terrified children have settled down since the Inside Out/Insidious fiasco, so things are slowly getting back to normal in Middletown, Ohio. However, chances are the projectionist and his or her bosses will pay a little more attention to what’s getting shown in the theater going forward.
