Four new stills from the long awaited Pride and Prejudice and Zombies have arrived, and as one astute EW commenter posted, “They look like prostitutes preparing for another day in a brothel.” We can’t disagree… not that that’s a bad thing by any means!

In any event, read on for a look at the new photos plus a few more clues of what we can look forward to when Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is released on February 5, 2016.

If you’re expecting something over-the-top like Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, the last Seth Grahame-Smith mash-up book to get a big-screen adaptation, star Lily James says, “It’s definitely not camp.”

Director Burr Steers explains, “The movie’s ‘big wink’ is that there is no big wink.”

So, okay, no campiness, but what should we expect?  “Rather than knitting and crocheting, they [the Bennet girls from the novel] are polishing muskets,” promises James, who says Lizzy is unlike any leading lady she’s ever played: “She’s the most badass zombie slayer there is.”

Along with James, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies also stars Sam Riley, Jack Huston, Matt Smith, Douglas Booth, Charles Dance, Lena Heady, Ellie Bamber, Millie Brady, Bella Heathcote, and Suki Waterhouse. Burr Steers directs.

The film hails from Cross Creek’s Brian Oliver, Sierra/Affinity, and Lauren Selig. It is produced by Allison Shearmur, Sean McKittrick, Natalie Portman, Annette Savitch, Marc Butan, Brian Oliver and Tyler Thompson. Exec producing are Lauren Selig, Aleen Keshishian, Ted Hamm, and Sue Baden Powell.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies recounts the unlikely romance between Lizzy (Lily James) and the haughty Mr. Darcy (Sam Riley), but the courtship takes place in a 19th-century English countryside where the “sorry stricken”—as the zombies are called in the book—have been roaming for more than 70 years, victims of a mysterious plague.

Attending next week’s San Diego Comic-Con?  Expect to see the first footage during the film’s panel (with Patient Zero) on Saturday, July 11th.

Saturday, July 11, 2015 – 12:15-1:15pm – Pride and Prejudice and Zombies / Patient Zero
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies – A zombie outbreak has fallen upon the land in Jane Austen’s classic tale of the tangled relationships between lovers from different social classes in 19th-century England. Feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet (Lily James) is a master of martial arts and weaponry, and the handsome Mr. Darcy (Sam Reilly) is a fierce zombie killer, yet the epitome of upper-class prejudice. As the zombie outbreak intensifies, they must swallow their pride and join forces on the blood-soaked battlefield. Cast members Lily James, Sam Riley, Bella Heathcote, Douglas Booth, Jack Huston and Matt Smith along with writer/director Burr Steers and the book’s author Seth Grahame-Smith for a first look at Screen Gem’s adaptation of his acclaimed twist on the classic novel.

Patient Zero – An uprecedented global pandemic of a super strain of rabies has turned the majority of humankind into highly intelligent, streamlined killers known as ‘The Infected’. One victim, Morgan (Matt Smith), who is asymptomatic and can communicate with the infected, leads the last survivors on a hunt for Patient Zero and a cure. Join cast members Matt Smith, John Bradley, Natalie Dormer, and Clive Standen along with director Stefan Ruzowitzky and screenwriter Mike Le for an exclusive first look of the film. Both panels will be moderated by Dalton Ross (Entertainment Weekly).
