#SDCC15: NECA Upgrades NES Jason Voorhees Toy; Now With Mrs. Voorhees’ Head
Today is the first official day of the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con, which is pretty wild considering how much awesome stuff has already come out of the event. Yesterday NECA unveiled their upcoming Atari Leatherface action figure, and now a brand new version of NES Jason is on the way.
It was of course back at the 2013 Comic-Con that NECA put up for grabs the first ever action figure of 8-bit Jason Voorhees, based on the Friday the 13th NES video game, and the toy became the most sought-after exclusive at that event. If you thought that toy was cool, you’re going to love this one.
As far as we can tell, the actual purple and baby blue Jason figure is the same as the previous release, though what makes this new set special is that it includes an 8-bit recreation of Mrs. Voorhees’ severed head. The packaging is also a bit different, playing the iconic Friday the 13th theme when you open the front flap.
This special ‘theme music packaging’ edition of NES Jason is coming soon, though no release date has been announced.
