Dan O’Bannon’s The Resurrected Finally Headed to Blu-ray
I love director Dan O’Bannon’s The Resurrected so much that I purchased a horrible DVD bootleg at a horror convention years ago just so I could watch it again. And while I still have very fond memories of that wretched VHS transfer, I’m pretty excited about actually seeing the flick in high definition. Insert squeals of delight here. You have no idea how pumped I am about this release.
Based on the H.P. Lovecraft tale The Case of Charles Dexter Ward, The Resurrected (also known as Shatterbrain) features the talents of John Terry, Jane Sibbett, and Chris Sarandon. In addition to the movie, you’ll get ton of special features, including commentaries, interviews with the cast and crew, and deleted/extended scenes. There’s a lot of content packed on that disc.
Haven’t heard of The Resurrected? You need this synopsis.
Charles Dexter Ward’s wife enlists the help of a private detective to find out what her husband is up to in a remote cabin owned by his family for centuries. The husband is a chemical engineer, and the smells from his experiments (and the delivery of what appear to be human remains at all hours) are beginning to arouse the attention of neighbors and local law enforcement officials. When the detective and wife find a diary of the husband’s ancestor from 1771, and reports of gruesome murders in the area begin to surface, they begin to suspect that some very unnatural experiments are being conducted in the old house.
You can pick up your very own Blu-ray copy of The Resurrected on July 31.
