The first 8 minutes of MTV’s “Scream” premiere were pretty solid, as the opening sequence was essentially an homage to Drew Barrymore’s memorable death scene in the film. It was Bella Thorne who played the first victim, and though her character is dead, we haven’t seen the last of her.

Per THR, Thorne told her fans at Comic-Con that Nina Patterson will be popping up again in the near future, the producers noting that social media will play a role in her return – which will of course come in the form of flashbacks, since her throat was slashed and all.

You will see more Nina,” Thorne promised. “More mean, and less dead!

I really wanted to die on-screen,” the actress went on to say, expressing her delight in being the show’s inaugural victim. “Everybody wants to kill you off because you’re not well-liked. I felt bad being so mean!

Now take a look at the official Comic-Con trailer that was shown during the panel:

“Scream” stars Willa Fitzgerald as Emma, Bex Taylor-Klaus as Audrey, Amadeus Serafini as Kieran, John Karna as Noah, Tom Maden as Jake, Connor Weil as Will, Carlson Young as Brooke, Tracy Middendorf as Maggie, Amelia Rose Blaire as Piper, and Jason Wiles as Sheriff Hudson.

After a cyber-bullying incident results in a brutal murder, the shocking violence stirs up memories of a killing spree from the past that has haunted some, intrigued others, and maybe just inspired a new killer. A group of teens – with two old friends struggling to reconnect at its heart – become lovers, enemies, suspects, targets, and victims of a killer who’s out for blood.
